Just say no- really

Here's a home another annoyed Realtor thinks I should see. It has 4 bedrooms, three baths and shares the 90077 Bel-Air zip code. Asking$1,019,999

3,820 sq ft steep incline lot with 1,975 sq ft of house. "Plenty of room for a garden"In a pot?
I think the green hedge is the only open area. The door on the lower level is a "small studio easily converted to additional parking" so an illegal conversion.

Question: Why don't you simply rent a place?

Question: What's your monthly gross income?

We currently own a place and want to only move once, rather than move to another slightly better, but still sub-optimal spot, then move again when we find a place to buy. This will be my 4th home and his 2nd and we both absolutely detest moving. Also, it is difficult to find rentals that will accept pets (four cats), two working adults, an older teen, a younger one and a couple of screaming toddlers. As a former landlord, I certainly wouldn't rent to my family if given an option between my group and a smaller one sans pets.

As for the monthly gross income question, it is sufficient for a $1,000,000+ home, but we both want real value for that kind of money.

We drive 10yr+ cars, have no credit card debt and I just paid off the last of my student loans
